Balancing Art and Identity in the Digital Age

Navigating the Challenges of Being an Independent Creative

Balancing Art and Identity in the Digital Age

Dear friends,

Working as an independent creative is great and fun. But many times it is a struggle about identity.

Questions arise like: Can I post this on my Instagram? Does my website look too commercial? Do I show off who I worked for or do I keep my profile more under cover?

Especially this year, working with AI this topic of identity comes back up. I would like to have a profile which makes me easily approachable for creative companies. But also I don’t want to loose my integrity as an artist.

Some months earlier I wrote about starting a project called Visual AI Mastery. But it never really took off. I still prefer to use my own name for my AI work and experiments.

I still think that opening a creative AI studio is the right move for me. And why not call it JopenAI? It’s my name, it’s AI and it sounds similar to OpenAI, which is funny in a way.

So I made a first draft for a website and feel quite good about it…

I want to keep the website simple. And at some point add a login area for users / followers / subscribers.

Yesterday, when starting a new project with old friends, I met Zuheng Yin. Zuheng is an impressive creative in the field of directing, design and AI.

Zuheng Yin is an artist and Art Director based in New York, working with many mediums to push the boundaries of visual art and design.

His work has been featured for clients including Radiohead’s Thom Yorke, Lil Nas X, 88Rising, Tate Modern Museum, and BMW M.

I am very grateful to have the chance to meet and collaborate with all those talented people.

I hope you are happy and that you enjoy your weekend!

Much love,
Marius
