Building Complex Apps Isn’t Just for the Pros Anymore

Dear friends,

as I wrote last week I am currently developing an AI application which can generate images and videos.

It includes user-management, API calls to RunPod, AWS integration and other functionalities. So all in all pretty complex stuff.

Two years ago I probably would have needed several months to learn all those tools, techniques and best practices. But now with the help of AI it is extremely easy.

First I used ChatGPT to help me solve problems - but then I stumbled over this incredible tool called Cursor.

It’s like Visual Studio Code, but new. And it is designed to help you to code with AI.

For example I had no idea of how to add a user-area to the application. So I told Cursor what I want, and it created the files for me, filled them with the correct code and (magic) it all worked. It took me 15 minutes to develop a user-area with zero experience. Back in the days I would have spent a week on that.

I don't believe that this will make us stupid though. I still have the possibility to go through the code afterwards, tweak it and learn to understand it.

I am totally amazed by this development. Nothing seems to be impossible anymore. If you want to build something - just ask AI to lead you through the process and help you to understand it.

I think this is truly incredible. 👀
