From the Venice Biennale to the AI Workshop
Design, deepfakes, bamboo, and what I’ve been up to in the last two weeks.

Dear friends,
Last week I skipped my newsletter because of life.
But I want to get more disciplined and make sure it's your inbox every Friday.
Hong Kong Pavilion at the Venice Biennale

The last month Klaus Stille and me were busy creating the graphic design for the Hong Kong Pavilion at the Venice Biennale. Klaus did mainly all the work and I just helped out here and there, mostly on the website.

It was so satisfying to see the bamboo artists at work. They normally build scaffolding for skyscrapers, so I assume that this was a pretty easy job for them.

Inside of the pavilion is a big archive of plans, documents and models to explore. Sadly I did not have the time to look at everything.
When you look at a skyline of Hong Kong, you see all those buildings and forget that behind each building is a team of very smart architects and construction workers. To look at the original plans of those buildings made me aware that every single building is a small world in itself.

AI Workshop

Last week, Paula Kühn and I ran a four-day AI workshop for a major global fashion platform.
Over four sessions, we worked with their creative and digital teams to dive into custom AI workflows.
On the first day we explained the basics of AI image generation. This involved giving the team access to Stable Diffusion and using a custom trained Lora.

On the next day we presented inspiring ways of working with AI, also in combination with analoge techniques. Then we dived into AI tools for 3D and post production.

On the third day, we sketched out a brand voice generator and mapped out advanced workflows — from automated social publishing to AI-powered video creation.

The last day we focused on a live LoRA training, exploring live avatars and deepfakes and still had time for a nice closing session.
I am grateful that I have the possibility to share my excitement about AI with other people. And also very grateful to work together with Paula Kühn, who helped so much to make this workshop a success.
