Fuck Stupidity: Embrace Lifelong Learning
How Books and Tutorials Enhance Our Understanding of the World
Dear friends,
I am currently sitting in the train to Paderborn.
That’s where we do our annual Jopen-Family-Gathering this year.
I am again amazed how bad the coverage of internet is here in Germany. Same goes for the punctuality of trains, cleanliness of subway stations, the degrading education system and the non-progressiveness of technological developments.
Children are getting more and more stupid by consuming nonsense on TikTok. Right-wing politics is rising and people think that energy drinks are a good thing.
This week I finished the Century Trilogy by Ken Follett. Though I am not a big Ken Follett fan anymore, the three books left a deep impression on me.
Similar to Buddenbrooks or a Hundred Years of Solitude we are travelling with some families through the whole century. We learn about the world-wars, the big and small people of those times and also how all major events in world were connected with each other.
Its great to learn and get entertained the same time. So I was listening to around 90h of history on my headphones while cooking, driving in the s-bahn or doing my groceries.
It’s always important to keep on learning. I remember working in New York, Pedro Sanches had two screens in front of him. And one of them always had a tutorial running.
Today it’s so easy to access knowledge. You can watch YouTube tutorials or university lectures from Harvard, listen to interesting podcasts, subscribe to one of your favourite artists on Patreon or use ChatGPT to explain you whatever you are curious about.
And also it is great to see that people are actually watching my tutorials and commenting on it.
So I plan to release more in the future.
If there is anything in the field of AI, graphic design or web-development you are curious about — let me know. Maybe I can do a small video about it.
That’s it for now.
Much love,
Marius
