Honoring Innovation: My Journey with the Dutch Design Awards

Celebrating the Past and Nominating the Next Generation of Dutch Designers

Honoring Innovation: My Journey with the Dutch Design Awards

Dear friends,

In 2016, I reached the finals for the Dutch Design Award.

That year also marked the end of my internship in New York with Stefan Sagmeister, my move to Berlin, a significant campaign with Max Kuwertz for Het Nieuwe Instituut in Rotterdam, and of course, plenty of sunshine and ice cream.

Fast forward eight years, and I’ve been invited once again to participate in the Dutch Design Awards.

This year, the Dutch Design Awards are taking a moment to look back and plan ahead. They’re celebrating over twenty years of showcasing top-notch design and are now engaging discussions about the future.

There’s no typical awards ceremony this year. Instead, the spotlight is on young, emerging designers, emphasising the next wave of creativity in design. It’s a mix of reflection and celebration, all about the impact of design.

A page from my Poster Diary project. In total I designed over 400 posters about the daily news…

On that note, I’m on the lookout to nominate an innovative young designer with Dutch connections.

If you know someone fresh out of school in the last five years who’s doing exciting things in design, let me know!

Have all a great weekend!

Much love,
Marius
