How a Small Film Club Opened a Door to Italy’s Golden Era
From Spaghetti Westerns to Giallo: Rediscovering Italy’s Film Legacy
Dear friends,
this past week has been a whirlwind. I have been wrapping up the final projects of 2024 and started a new exciting project about Quantum Noise and AI. More about that will follow soon.
I’ve lived in some big cities, but it was always the small communities of likeminded people which make the city special for me.
And last night was another great example of this.
A good friend of mine started to host a small cinema club in Berlin. And once a month we meet and watch Italian movies from the 60-80s. From Poliziotteschi over Giallos, from Italo Western to movies from Dario Argento.
The food and drinks match the theme of the two movies being screened. And each movie will have a short introduction and a small discussion round afterward.
And I do fall in love with the world of Italian cinema. Great stunts, solid punches, unique dialogues, and incredible clothes and scenery. Also, Tarantino is a huge fan of this genre, and you can spot a lot of its stylistic elements in his movies as well.
The Italian movie night is one of my golden nuggets in this city. ❤️
Super grateful the be a part of it. 🙏
Much love,
Marius
