Revisiting the Icon: 'Tetsuo - The Iron Man'
Discovering Shinya Tsukamoto's Masterpiece with Fellow Film Aficionados
Dear friends,
it’s getting cold and cosy and I think this is the perfect time to cuddle under a blanket on the couch and watch a lot of movies.

Last week I rewatched Tetsuo — The Iron Man.
This is a 1989 Japanese cyberpunk move by Shinya Tsukamoto.
Tetuso — The Iron man is the directors first film and was produced on a very low budget. Probably because of that the movie is uncompromisingly rough and honest.
It throws all the typical movie aesthetics overboard, grabs you, drags you along and blends a smoothie out of your brain.
I wish to watch it on a big screen in a real cinema.
This is cinema in its purest form!
Also we established a small movie club here in Berlin and watched two rough-cuts from the talented film-maker Danting Chen.
Danting lives in Berlin and produces beautifully shot movies since she is 17. I call them grown-up movies because my work feels very childish next to hers 😅
Malak Haynes was hosting the session and also provided some nice ambient background sounds from his field recordings in the North Sea.
And Jesus Escudero, who has amazing drawing skills, was loudly munching snacks basically all the time.
Grateful to have those likeminded people around me.
Much love,
Marius
PS: I am experimenting with the length of my articles.
I don’t want to have them too long, because people don’t like to read long articles.
I also try to include many pictures.
If you have any thoughts about this – please let me know 🙏
